I have recently been using a lot of matte lipsticks. I have somehow come to like them more than lip glosses or shiny lipsticks. However using matte lipstick on a daily basis have left me with very dry, cracked and peeling lips. No matter how expensive or luxurious your red lipstick is, nothing looks less sexy than peeling and chapped lips. But then, one day I had enough, and as my lips needed some serious exfoliation, I bought this lip scrub! I bought this on a whim and out of curiousity as the sales girl told me that I can even eat it.! Hell yes, you can eat as lush used all natural products!
Lush lip scrubs come in 3 flavours– Bubblegum, Popcorn and Mint. Popcorn had to win! I mean who doesn’t like popcorns!
Lush website claims, “Indulge in the sweet-and-salty taste of this delectable lip scrub. Sugar and fine sea salt exfoliate away dry skin while jojoba and coconut oils restore essential hydration to the lips for a smooth, softened pout. Use Popcorn on its own for a luxurious (and delicious!) lip treatment, or before a applying your favorite lip color for perfectly soft, kissable lips. Just try not to eat it straight from the pot!

This scrub contains only 8 ingredients and frankly, you could make it yourself. It contains no preservatives, which makes it a winner. The only synthetic ingredient is the flavouring, and those sensitive to colouring will be pleased to hear there isn’t any in this. This product is also Vegan friendly.

The packaging looks great and it comes in a cute glass pot of 25g which might be unhygienic as you have to dig in your fingers. And sometimes I need to reach back for more even though my hands are a little wet. They seem to melt when it comes into contact with water. Its smell is delightful and the taste is a perfect sweet and savory combination that is an extra special treat at the end of use for this lip treatment.. you can lick it off when you’re done using it and it tastes SO good…more like salted caramel. The scrub has caster sugar and sea salt in it and they were of a good texture – not too fine and not too coarse.

Well apart from the smell and taste I don’t think this product does much. I actually didn’t feel any change in my lip condition. When you do get it onto your lips, it doesn’t feel like it really does anything- you really have to scrub hard to get any effect. Afterwards, it feels like there’s a slightly oily sheen on your lips, but they don’t feel moisturised.

It is a good habit to use lip scrubs to keeps your lips soft and smooth, in good, healthy condition, but also so that your lip colour goes on smoothly. However I will look for some other product. I feel that this product is very gimicky. It’s essentially sugar, and very crumbly in texture; you can’t get it out of the pot easily , and it’s not particularly effective. It smells lovely, tastes lovely, but is useless. You can easily make it at home instead of wasting $10 on a pot of sugar!
