Over the past few years, I’ve found myself increasingly drawn to gray as a kind of security blanket, my go to color specially for work wear. I wear gray suits, gray sweaters and shirts and even gray shoes! Perhaps the most gripping fact about this color is that it’s not composed of extremes – no white or black – it exists between them!

Gray is a common neutral color which is not boring! Because of the versatility, it can work with so many other colors, prints, and accessories. By figuring out how to style your shade of gray, you can create countless different looks. It looks great with soft pastels like baby blue and pink, is great to combine with white for a fresh and modern look or you can even combine gray with navy green for a more edgy yet chic look. It’s especially interesting when you play with different shades of this color for a refined, sophisticated outfit. Because grey comes in all different shades and often has hints of different colors, it can truly go with almost any color.

Nothing breaks up a grey outfit like a single pop of color, whether it is a bright lip color or a sky blue bag. You can also add silver accessories for the added glamour. This color goes with everything, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

Because gray is such a basic color, you can pick pieces with interesting cuts. You certainly won’t look plain if your outfit has a daring cut or creates an exciting silhouette such as a short skirt or a loose off the shoulder top!

Gray is a massive trend these days and has taken over the fast fashion as well – just visit Uniqlo or Muji and you will know what I am talking about! But what makes it such a tempting choice for clothes in particular? It could be its efficiency; the relief of removing a decision from your life every morning a la Mark Zuckerberg; or never having to worry about clashing colors. Or maybe because it’s a very elegant shade and the effect of this color makes you look classy and posh. Personally, I find it to be luxurious yet minimal and I am dying to convert my wardrobe into an all gray one!
