DHC Salicylic Acne Wash August 31, 2011 I have decided to use more of Japanese brands as long as I am in Japan…..Firstly bcoz Japanese cosmetics and skin care products are known for their effectiveness all over the world and secondly bcoz most of the International Brands like Body Shop, Clinique, Kiehls etc….are EXHORBITANTLY priced here!!!!!!!! The drug store facewash which I was using was not working for me anymore so I decided to loosen my pursestrings and try an expensive facewash to stop my breakouts!!!!Now moving to the main story….DHC Salicylic Acne Wash…DHC is a Japanese skincare company with products without excessive coloring agents or irritating fragrances…at 1300 yen or 16.50$ for a 120 ml bottle I find it kind pricey…..it comes in a light blue simple plastic bottle…nothing fancy…a disappointment for people like me who like pretty packaging:( It has salicylic acid which helps in acne as it contains antimicrobial properties and helps reduce clogged pores and also helps in removing the dead skin layer.I did some research on Salicylic acid and found out that it is a betahydroxy acid and it helps in improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blemishes and scarring. It also has a skin peeling agent. It works by removing the sebum from the pores and by conferring anti-inflammatory properties….. Now coming to the main part..my verdict… it worked very well for me the initial 2 weeks…my breakouts completely stopped….unlike other acne wash I have used in the past it does not dry the skin as it has aloe vera and is quite foaming…..It exfoliated my top layer as it has Salicylic acid(I could see the difference) and it had a nice soft green tea and herbal oil smell. But as every good thing comes to an end….my breakouts started again and I felt as if my skin has become immune to the product…..it did nothing great for my skin….but the only good part is that I am using it since last 2 months and it will still last me for another week even though I wash my face 2-3 times in a day. I may not buy it again in the future but I am open to using other products from DHC …… Related articles Salicylic Acid (dvineuncorked.wordpress.com)
