Kanebo カネボウ claims “An eye shadow palette that creates wider, larger and more defined eyes using light-diffusing eye-widening control pearl.” Japanese eye shadows generally come in a palette with similar shades to achieve a particular look. They have colors ranging from light to dark which you can individually use or create different looks. They come all numbered and with steps to show how to achieve the look. This eye shadow palette from Kanebo makes it easier for beginners to create a perfect eye makeup look!

I have Kanebo Kate Wide Edge Eye Shadow Palette – Black 1. There are five colors in the palette, a silver color to highlight, a blue shimmery color with glitters for edge control, a grey medium tone for the crease and a dark gray for deepening and lining and a neutral whitish creamy color for the eye base. This palette is designed to give wider, longer eyes by using lighter shades in the inner corner and the darker shades on the outer sides. All the colors have different texture, base is matte, wide eye shimmery whereas grays are not very shimmery and pigmented. I use most of the colors on their own, in fact I have hardly ever used all five together!

Most of the Japanese eye shadows are not very pigmented and are shimmery. But I am quite happy with this Kanebo palette. I think they are quite pigmented.
And the best part is that they are wearable. They are not very bold smoky, but a sophisticated and muted smoky. The shades blend easily. They stay all day specially if I use it over a primer.

It retails for 800 Yen for 2.7 gm packaging..

Packaging is very cute and compact, perfect for travelling. It comes in a plastic black palette. It also comes with a dual end applicator which is actually is quite good.

This eye shadow palette comes in five different color combinations. I can’t think of any negatives, in fact, I might try them in other shades and combinations!
