My hair is bound to be flat, as much as I try. I often skip conditioner or anything moisturizing for my hair. I also stay away from gels and mousse as they weigh my hair down. I like to use dry shampoo to save time and to avoid washing my hair every day. My hair is naturally fine and I am always running late in the mornings. This is why I am always in a hunt for a good dry shampoo!

Lush Cosmetics claims: No time to wash? Want to give your hair a break from too much shampooing? No problem! Our dry shampoo absorbs excess oils and gives volume to hair, so it looks and smells fresh without every having to step into the shower. Massage a little Lush Cosmetics No Drought Dry Shampoo into your scalp and throughout your hair, then shake or brush out. It blends in completely, even on dark hair, to give it texture with a soft, matte finish. Lemon, grapefruit and lime oils will leave it with a fruity fragrance, so you’ll smell fresh too! A dry shampoo with oil-absorbing powders, grapefruit and lime to refresh your hair without water. This is ideal if you want a quick refresher between washes as it will soak up excess oil to leave a matte, clean look without any dustiness.

Price: $15.95

Ingredients: Talc which helps to absorbs moisture, cornflour that acts as an absorbent, grapefruit oil and lime oil which help to uplift and refresh hair.

How To use: Make sure you’re standing over a sink or flat surface and put a small amount of the loose powder in your hand. Rub the powder into your roots or hair ends.

Scent: It smells really good – fresh, light and zingy. The smell is not too overpowering and there is a noticeable citrusy scent when first applied. However, the scent quickly subsides in a few minutes.

Consistency: The consistency is really powdery as the main ingredient is cornflour.

Packaging: It comes in the typical Lush plastic bottle meant for a liquid product, which makes application far too messy and difficult. You can’t apply it without getting it all over your clothes and sink. and it tends to apply in clumps.

My experience: I found this product to be nothing great. It makes my hair look very dirty instead of refreshed. While the corn starch is able to absorb some oil, adds volume and texture, it leaves a weird build up on my hair. I also feel like sometimes it’s hard to get the product to absorb into the hair and it tends to apply in clumps. The powder leaves a visible white tinge to my hair, even though I thoroughly brush it out, once forcing me to wash my hair after getting fully dressed!

Final Remarks: This Lush Cosmetics dry shampoo powder is definitely good if you’re looking for a way to keep your hair smelling fresh, but is too messy to use and leaves a white residue behind on dark hair. It does soak up oil, but if you put too much product, even when you rub it in there is an ashy greyish cast to your hair. It doesn’t do as good a job at making my hair feels fresh and it doesn’t give me the body that Batiste or Klorane does. Maybe because both Klorane and Batiste use rice powder, while this uses corn flour, which clumps easily.

I think it is better to use dry shampoos the night before your hair gets greasy, as they can do their work overnight. There is no replacement for washing your hair with regular shampoo and water, but dry shampoos are great if you want to avoid washing your hair every day!
