With the world practicing self-isolation and social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic, I thought to be productive and blog about something different to elevate my mood. I understand that the effects of the COVID-19 outbreak are causing changes to our daily lives and everybody is stressed being isolated at home, that is why a little distraction doesn’t hurt! So, here are my three current favorite perfumes, that are really unique:

Fragonard Belle de Nuit フラゴナール ベル デ ニュイ

One of the perfumes I picked up from Grasse in France is Fragonard Belle de Nuit フラゴナール ベル デ ニュイ. We went to Grasse from Cannes for a couple of hours as my friend had heard about the perfumeries in Grasse. We went to a perfume museum and saw some perfumes there and while strolling on the streets of Grasse we came across this huge Fragonard shop, which was a dream come true for any fragrance lover. We both picked up Belle de Nuit which is their best-selling fragrance along with some others. According to Fragonard, ‘Belle de Nuit is an original, deep rich harmony of flowers and fruit on a warm velvety bottom note of musk. A precious fragrance, as magical as an Oriental night!’

Notes:

Top notes – mirabilis, ylang-ylang, gardenia
Heart notes – violet, geranium, rose
Base notes – plum, woods, musks

Packaging:

It comes in an elegant beautiful gold bottle packaging, which will make any dressing table look elegant and mature.

My take on it:

I would say it makes for one of the best evening perfumes ever, quite classic and sophisticated yet bold and feminine. It is a very elegant floral, light, and intoxicating scent. Although it is intense when first sprayed on, it turns into creamy soft, and feminine fragrance. The dry down is a delicious mix of flowers and fruits, highlighted with musk, which makes this a warm Arabian-like scent. It has a nice distinctive aroma and is not too overpowering. I personally feel that it is unique and mature, a niche market product, and not everyone is going to like it.

Longevity:

The only downside I feel is its longevity. It disappears within minutes which is a shame.

Shiseido Ever Bloom 資生堂 エバーブルーム

Created with a unique Shiseido olfactory structure, Ever Bloom is a musky white, floral fragrance that diffuses a radiant but enveloping scent. One single drop of this delicate and floral fragrance has the power to fill in an entire room – claims Shiseido. Shiseido launched this perfume in 2015. The inspiration for this perfume is a black and white photo of camelia taken by Shinjo Fukuhara, the son of the first founder in 1940. The perfumer is Aurelien Guichard who aimed to create a perfect balance between delicacy and power. This perfume was gifted to me by the Shiseido PR team but all opinions are mine.

Notes:

Ever Bloom is a very elegant fragrance. Unlike other fragrances, Ever Bloom does not consist of base, heart and top notes, but is a unique round fragrance composition with two components, the Aura Accord and the Presence Accord. The Aura Accord looks radiant, lively, and fresh with violets, lotus, and rose extract. The Presence Accord is attractive and very sensual. Luxurious orange blossom absolute, gardenia, sylkolide musk, and hinoki wood add depth and an energetic presence to the fragrance of Shiseido Ever Bloom.

Packaging:

The bottle is pretty and at the same time, very elegant and modern. This exquisite packaging design is inspired by Karakusa, a traditional Japanese pattern of graceful curves and a symbol of the power of a woman’s inner beauty, happiness, and vitality.

My take on it:

This is a refreshing white floral scent and is quite classic and mature. It is a very pleasant scent that can be worn all year round and on all occasions. I think this perfume is a real gem – reminds me of jasmine and lotus with a beginning of rose – a structure that gives an everlasting sense of spring. Although it is a floral scent, it is quite unique and sexy – perfect for a night out.

Longevity:

It is decent, and it remains on me for an entire day, and on my clothes for days! A little goes a long way, as it is long-lasting and powerful.

Jill Stuart Eau De Floral White ジル スチュアート オード ホワイト フローラル

An Eau de Cologne that envelops you in a soft feeling of blessings with its aromatic white floral bouquet fragrance, combining white and pink flowers with natural aromatic oils – says the Jill Stuart website on this fragrance. Jill Stuart Eau de White Floral was launched in 2012 under the Relax Line. It was a gift from a friend and a pleasant surprise as I love Jill Stuart but had never tried their perfumes before!

Notes:

Top notes: bergamot, lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, peach, raspberry, black currant, strawberry
Heart: lily, lily of the valley, jasmine, orange blossom, ylang-ylang, rose, geranium, basil, rosemary
Base: cedar, vetiver, amber, musk

Packaging:

It comes in a lovely glass bottle with a transparent flower pattern which represents the “clean & modern” design concept of JILL STUART RELAX. It comes with a removable ribbon charm.

My take on it:

It comes under the category of floral-fruity perfumes with a woody – musky background – but still really unique compared to other perfumes in this genre. It smells clean, pure, sublime – very Japanese and targeted by Jill Stuart for her niche Japanese market. It is girly and sweet without being too sugary or plasticky. It is my go-to scent for warm summer days when I want to smell fresh and feel light.

Longevity:

It’s eau de toilette, therefore, it fades away easily, and I need to reapply often.

3,800 Yen for 50ml
