Ouai Haircare is being hyped up on Instagram and let me tell it’s certainly worth the hype! Created by Jen Atkin, the celebrity hair stylist for the Kardashians, this uh-mazing line of hair products already has a huge cult following. I saw it in Sephora in Kuala Lumpur and knew nothing about it then, but their sales girl recommended this as a dry shampoo, and so I bought it.

This hairspray from Jen Atkin is described as, “Like dry shampoo and hair spray had a baby — this ultra-lightweight hair spray builds incredible volume and texture. Packed with volcanic minerals to absorb oil and refresh hair.”

What it is: An ultra-lightweight hairspray that combines the effects of a dry shampoo and a hairspray, creating a single formula that builds incredible volume and texture in your hair.

How to use: Shake it up. Holding the bottle 6″ from your head, mist dry hair from roots to ends. For ultimate volume, flip hair upside down and spray.

What it does: The formula is packed with volcanic minerals to absorb oil and refresh your strands. It is good for all hair types whether it is straight, wavy, curly or coiled.

Key benefits: Builds volume and texture, absorbs oil and refreshes hair

What it is formulated WITHOUT: Parabens and Phthalates

Smell: It smells delightful, like a fancy floral, slightly musky perfume. This hair spray is scented with Ouai No. 3 Fragrance, containing notes of Italian bergamot, water lily, and white musk. Not recommended if you are scent-sensitive!

Price: $ 26.00

Pro tip by Jen Atkin: Mist it on dry hair and scrunch strands out with your fingers for a loose, lived-in look. Flip hair upside down and spray for instantly fresh-looking hair.

Now don’t let the name mislead you! This is not a hairspray. The effect is not sticky, crunchy, or stiff, and it will not hold your style like a hairspray does! When sprayed liberally onto unwashed dull hair, it will absorb oil and freshen things up with a hit of volume and shine just like a dry shampoo. It gives amazing texture to flat hair without getting hair rough or sticky. It truly adds a fullness and texture while keeping soft strands. It is perfect to use as a one step savior when you over sleep and have no time for anything but a quick spray!

For me, the real use happens when I use it as the concluding step once my hair is washed, conditioned, dried and straightened. I flip my head upside down and use this texturizing spray, pretty generously. I’m left with body and fullness and an impression that I have twice as much hair – with no annoying stickiness of a hairspray or the dulling residue of dry shampoo.

I’ve tried a vast selection of texturizing sprays, mousse and powders, basically anything to give my flat hair a bit more volume. I have the kind of hair that requires an artificial shot of texture to look good — it’s fine, a bit wavy, and tends toward a flat limpness — so I will die for some extra volume! Of all the dry shampoos I have tried, including this and this, Ouai Texture Hair Spray by Jen Atkin is the best! It is my new favorite for volumizing, thickening and root-lifting!

Buy it here, and thank me later!
