On the second day of our Taiwan trip, we covered most of the main tourist attractions of Taipei. After the lavish breakfast buffet at The Grand Hyatt we joined a short city tour arranged by the hotel. Our tour started with a visit to a traditional Taiwanese temple, followed by a stop at Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall where we saw the changing of the guards. Representatives of the armed forces guard the main hall during its open hours. The changing of the guards take place every hour, and attracts many visitors. Two rifle-carrying military police stand rigid at attention and then end their shift with a robotic march. After that we went to Martyr’s Shrine which is a war memorial for the dead soldiers of Republic of China during World War II. And then we were taken to National Palace Museum which is one of the largest museums in the world, famous for Chinese artefacts and artworks. And at last the guide took us to a handicraft centre which obviously was over-priced and we did not buy anything!!

It was already evening time when we were dropped back at the hotel so we went back to our room for some tea and to freshen up. Later we went to Sogo which is a big department store in the Xinyi district and looked around a bit. Xinyi District is one of the premier shopping areas with shops such as Zara, Mango , Armani Exchange, Nine West, Aldo etc. We ended our day with a Chinese dinner at Dian Shui Lou. Can’t wait to go back again!!
