In my last Dubai post I had mentioned that I used to live in Dubai 5 years ago, before moving to Japan. Back in those days, Dubai Marina and the Walk at JBR were not much developed. I remember going to Marina Mall for a job interview and only a few dining options at The Walk at JBR. So it was a pleasant surprise to see these places all revamped, looking glamorous on my last visit!

Dubai Marina is an artificial canal city, built along the stretch of Persian Gulf shoreline featuring several high-rise luxury apartments as well as villas set against the backdrop of the marina. The canal in the middle that connects to the sea and tall buildings on both the sides makes this place a spectacular delight. With fancy dining options, entertainment and leisure facilities, Dubai Marina is the perfect place for the stylish and sophisticated. The marina is not that big but when the sun goes down, it offers a spectacular view of amazing lightened towers.

Dubai Marina Walk is a 7 km long pedestrian walkway runs along the Dubai Marina with café and restaurants along the waterfront, boats and yacht moored up alongside Dubai Marina Yacht Club, is a wonderful experience and a beautiful backdrop to any dining experience.

Marina Mall is a shopping mall located in the center of Dubai Marina, for residents and visitors of the Dubai Marina. It features 140 retail outlets, features a retail mix of high street fashion brands, aspirational boutique fashion, al fresco waterfront dining, a supermarket and a movie theatre. The 5-star Address Dubai Marina Hotel is directly linked to the mall.

Marina Walk and JBR Walk are less than 1 km apart, which is perfectly walkable in nice weather. It was hot and taxing a taxi is so convenient, that is why we took a taxi.

The Walk at JBR , a restaurant and shopping strip, which is adjacent to the beach behind JBR, is a very popular location for al fresco dining, high-end shopping, 5 star hotels, street artist performances – a perfect mix of Arabic and Western cultures.
If you’re looking for stylish boutiques, luxury dining or simply a leisurely promenade along the waterfront, then it is the place for you. Along this buzzing boulevard, there’s plenty of opportunity to satisfy your retail cravings with an array of fashion, home, and handicraft shops and boutiques.

The Walk at JBR is along the beach front and there are many dining options on the beach overlooking the Gulf. Al fresco dining is something I miss in Japan, which I took advantage of in Dubai. We had Moroccan coffee with some traditional sweets and sheesha at one of those beach bars. Sitting on the bean bags, relaxing with a double apple flavor sheesha and watching the sun setting in the sea, one of my best memories of Dubai!
