Bvlgari Aqva Divina ブルガリ アクア ディヴィーナ was launched in February 2015 by iconic jewellers, Bvlgari. The concept is to celebrate the rebirth of Greek goddess Venus, in the heart of Meditterean sea. Alberto Morillas, the creater of this EDT, describes it as an ‘intimate take’ on Boticelli’s Venus. Aqva Divina is described by Bvlgari as a “new jewel born from the wonders of the Mediterranean sea”, which is quite befitting. This modern and timeless perfume symbolizes the scent of sea mermaids – breezy and aquatic.

First ever perfume for women from Bvlgari, Aqva Divina captures the dazzling freshness of bergamot, the gracefulness of magnolia and the voluptuousness of amber. Its floral-aquatic composition opens with aromas reminiscent of the salty sea; there are accords of bergamot, salt crystals and pink ginger – a mix of freshness along with a citrus zest. Magnolia and sunlit quince form the heart of the perfume – which makes it sensual but gives a feel of freshness. They are followed by the base of beeswax, precious woods and nude amber.

While Aqva Divina is light, fresh, in-offensive perfume, but there is still something about it. It is a full-bodied and sensual aquatic fragrance. The fragrance captures the brand’s Greek and Roman roots, as well as toying with oceanic notes. It smells glamorous and exotic but in a quiet and revolutionary way, by avoiding being gaudy and cheap. The undercurrents of oceanic elements are very fresh, perfect for summer months – natural yet beautiful. It’s a mix of floral and aquatic notes that is not overpowering at all. Longetivity is good and I could still smell it after a good 6- 7 hours.

The bottle is a dream in gold and white in a sleek packaging. These colours are classy and usually associated with the iconic beauty of pearls. It will look good on any vanity. It retails for $90 for 65 ml.

This is not yet another aquatic perfume in the sea of watery, ocean themed perfumes, which have a fake tropical and cheap sweet lotion like scent.
Aqva Divina provides for the honest salty, tangy feeling. One sniff and you could be swimming in the Mediterranean or lounging on a beach with a cocktail. Buy it if you want to escape to the paradise!
