I am back to the blogging world after more than a year! Much has happened. I was already going through many ups and downs in my personal life, and then suddenly one fine day my blog disappeared! The page showed an error message! Then started the long and frantic phone calls to Go Daddy. After spending hours and hours on phone with them (mind you those phone calls were at least an hour or two long each time!) and spending a lot of $$$ on GoDaddy, my website was back. However, just some of the written content. All the images from the last 300 posts were gone! GoDaddy was unable to get my images back but yeah they did try to sell new features every time I called them. Terrible customer service, GoDaddy!

Well after trying a lot I contacted a website developer in India, who was again unable to get back my images as there was no backup anywhere.

So now, the only option left is to manually upload images to all my old blog posts one by one. It will take me hours and hours and I don’t even have all the images!

Actually, I have already started to upload whatever photos I have on my laptop, external memory or Facebook. But I guess, it is going to take a couple of months as I also have a regular 9 to 5 job.

All this mess has led me to believe that being positive and keeping a cool mind is essential. But how to achieve positive thinking ポジティヴ・シンキング when everything in your life is going wrong? Well, here are five PRACTICAL tips that I have been trying to incorporate in my life, and you can do the same.

An attitude for gratitude

Always express what you are grateful for – always, even in the worst of times. Most of us still have things in our lives for which we should be grateful. We can see, hear, walk, or talk. We have friends and family who love us. We can eat at least 3 times a day, have clean water to drink and a house to live in. These are just some of the little blessings we could appreciate. I think about the things I am grateful for every night before I sleep – and honestly, it really helps me do more positive thinking ポジティヴ・シンキング, even when bad things happen. The research found that taking time to reflect on , what you’re grateful reduces the stress hormone Cortisol by 23%, improves mood, reduces anxiety and depression, and improves sleep.

Focus on the present.

Try to focus on the present—not today, not this hour, only this exact moment. You might be having a horrible day at work, but what in this exact moment is happening that’s so bad? Forget about the client meeting that went wrong. Forget what your boss will say five minutes from now. Focus on this one, individual moment. In most situations, you’ll find it’s not as bad as you imagine it to be. We generally feel negativity from a memory of a recent event or the exaggerated imagination of a potential future event. Stay in the present moment and avoid overthinking at all costs!

Surround yourself with positive friends, mentors, and co-workers

When you surround yourself with positive people, you’ll hear positive outlooks, positive thoughts, and positive stories. Finding positive people to fill up your life can be difficult, but surrounding yourself with positive people will help you stay positive in a negative situation. There are plenty of negative people out there—avoid them! Their negative attitudes will be counterproductive to your positive thinking. Also, it is human nature to be tempted to listen to their problems and try to help them. But their negativity will definitely affect you. I am not telling you to avoid your friends who come to you with their problems and need a shoulder to cry on. Just stay away from people who are bitter and complain all the time!

Get help to achieve positive thinking ポジティヴ・シンキング

If you are unable to feel motivated – get help – a book or a movie or listen to some motivational talk on the internet. As negativity and challenges arise, our motivation wears out and we begin to doubt if we could ever achieve our goals and be happy. To continue doing positive thinking ポジティヴ・シンキング and inspired, I go to YouTube or TED and watch motivational speakers every day before I sleep. Reading a good book also helps me reduces stress. Finally, listening to music brightens up my day and generally makes my mood better.

Things can only get better from here

When you hit bottom, the only place to go is up! Of course, it is not ideal or cool to hit rock bottom – but one thing is clear: you can only move on up from here. Just be positive and remember that these hard times will pass. It may seem difficult and never-ending, but it won’t be like this forever. In the future, you will recover from this and return to your normal life. This situation and these feelings are only temporary and they will fade away. Nothing in this world is permanent!
